Paul offers in 5:12–22 rests on their common hope for the return of Christ. They recognize their leaders (5:12–13), admonish the disorderly, live together in peace (5:14), and bear with the weak (5:14) because they all share a common destiny in the kingdom of God (cf. 2:12). Existence “in Christ” is a life in the company of others who share in the destiny of Christ (2:14). Ecclesiology and Christology are thus inseparable. The church is unlike all other communities, because the people died “with
